Scott Cabana started playing the organ at the age of five, and began experimenting writing music. Noticing their son's talent, his parents sent Scott to take organ lessons. Bored with lessons, Scott took up the drums in middle school and started playing for local bands. Soon he began to realize what a pain in the ass it was to lug all those drums around and in addition, wanted to sing lead (a task accomplished by few drummers!). Early in high school, he asked his father for a bass guitar and joined a local group called Contempt with guitarist Andy Duffy (Tripps Pond) and Doug Lindsay. Since there was no one to sing lead, Scott took the lead role and his chance to prove himself as a singer. In 1990, the members of Contempt joined Joe Bernier in Beyond Recognition for a 4th of July show in Merrimack, NH. It was during this time period that Scott worked with some of the best musician/songwriters around. He has been a member of several original bands notably, Abstract Reality (Tripps Pond) with Andy Duffy, Aaron Smith, and drum wiz Jeff Boutin as well as popular cover bands, such as Open Bar and Beyond Recognition. As a song writer, Scott has written several pop songs, including “The Stride” and “Holly Ann”, which achieved popularity on local college radio. Scott is known for his unique bass guitar sound and powerful high pitched lead/harmony vocals. He has played with the members of Beyond Recognition off and on for 16 years and has decided to join his old friends again to form Radio Star, playing the type of music he has always dreamed of. Scott’s major influences through the years have been Speed Metal, Progressive Rock, Pop to Jazz. |
